FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
Are there requirements for membership?
You can become a member of our church by confessing faith in Jesus Christ as
Lord and Savior as a candidate for baptism, on promise of letter from
another Baptist church, and by statement when you have previously been a
member of a Baptist church but your letter is not currently obtainable.
There are four things we require of all who become members of our church:
1. You have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord and that
you trust Him for salvation.
2. You have been baptized by immersion (under water) after you received
Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.
3. You have completed the new members orientation Discovering Shepherd
Hill.
4. You desire to abide by the Shepherd Hill Membership Covenant.
What is involved in the Membership Covenant?
When a Christ-follower is led by the Holy Spirit to unite with our church
family, he or she professes that they received Jesus as their personal Lord
and Savior, that they have been baptized, and that they agree with the
statement of beliefs found in the current edition of The Baptist
Faith and Message. They further commit to God and the members of
the Shepherd Hill Baptist Church family by making a covenant to:
1. Protect the unity of the church
- by acting in love toward other members
- by refusing to gossip
- by following the leaders
2. Share in the responsibility of the church
- by praying for its growth
- by warmly welcoming those who visit
- by inviting the unchurched to attend
3. Serve through the ministry of the church
- by discovering their gifts and using their talents
- by being equipped to serve
- by developing a servant's heart
4. Support the testimony of the church
- by attending faithfully
- by living a godly life
- by giving regularly
